"Helping you find & follow your best path."
Hello. My name is Kevin Boese, and I am a professionally trained and mentored life coach. I am passionate about helping people discover their life purpose and then find the strength to bring their lives into alignment with it. My focus areas are: Life Purpose, Emotional Strength, Important Relationships, and Christian Faith. As you come to know me, you will find that I am very empathetic, non-judgmental, and authentic. These attributes have been honed during the very difficult past 5 years of my life.
I would be honored to meet with you for a free initial intake session. Our visits can occur either in-person or virtually. Although I no longer have a permanent office space, we can still meet in-person at an agreed upon location, utilizing a temporary yet private office space if needed. I encourage you to contact me right now. You have nothing to lose and potentially so much to gain.
Please watch the videos below to learn more about me. In them, I present the topic "Introduction to Life Coaching" as I would do so in front of a live physical audience.
Part 1: Intro, Q1, Q2
Part 2: Q3, Q4, Q5
Part 3: Q7
Part 4: My Story, Q8
You may be new to the term "life coaching", and are wondering to yourself, "What is it?" Often it is either not understood at all or it is misunderstood. The International Coaching Federation (https://coachfederation.org/about) defines life coaching as "partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential."
One reason that the term life coaching is misunderstood is because of what comes to mind when people hear the word "coach". The word "coach" generally brings to mind the team leader in a sport such as soccer, volleyball, or basketball. A coach in that sense is the unquestioned expert in the sport and therefore interacts with the team members in the following ways: trains, instructs, advises, and mentors. By contrast, a life coach is the expert in the life coaching process while the client is the expert of his/her own life. The life coach uses the coaching process to guide the client to: become self-aware, discover possibilities, identify next steps, achieve goals, and much more.
Finally, allow me to explain life coaching from a client perspective. You might be thinking . . .
"I have this life situation __________ that has been bugging me for quite some time. I know it is not going to resolve itself on its own. I have some ideas about how to proceed, but some of them seem risky. I wish I could talk to someone about it, but I'm afraid they might be judgmental, be narrow-minded, or would give me unwanted advice."
"I know that my good friend __________ would patiently listen to me and support me. However, I do not want to burden them with ongoing conversations which have my life situation be the center of attention. Also, discussing this topic with them could end up being hurtful since they are a big part of my life -- the very life I want to change."
If you have had similar thoughts, you may want to search for your own life coach. Be sure to interview several to find one who is qualified and who you feel comfortable with. Your experience with a life coach should be safe, supportive, inspirational, and ultimately move you toward reaching your goals and fulfilling your life purpose. Keep in mind that the results depend heavily on your honesty during the coaching sessions and your hard work between them.
Finally:
You may conclude that life coaching would be helpful to you. However, you are not sure what topics are appropriate to bring to a life coach. Almost any topic is okay - as long as you are not expecting to receive therapy, counselling, or advice. The best topic is usually a real life situation that has been taking up a lot of space in your mind recently. Below I show you some examples to get your juices flowing, but realize this list is just a small sampling of potential topics.

I was a table leader for "The Healing Names of Jesus" course held at Trinity Church in Lakeville, MN (https://trinitychurchmn.com). What books or resources have most influenced your life in recent years?
Below, I list the important resources in the order I encountered them and applied them to my life. They helped me understand myself better and gave me topics to coach myself on and bring to talk therapy sessions with my licensed professional counselor (LPC). Looking back, many of my later counseling sessions were similar in nature to coaching sessions. Those topics greatly influenced the areas I chose to focus on in my life coaching business.
a. “The Expanded Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Manual: DBT for Self-Help and Individual & Group Treatment Settings" by Lane Pederson, 2017
b. “Depression Fallout – The impact of depression on Couples and what you can do to preserve the bond”, by Anne Sheffield 2003
c. “Embracing Uncomfortable – Facing our fears while pursuing our purpose” by Deborah E Gorton, 2020
d. “Emotional Agility – Get unstuck, embrace change, and thrive in work and life” by Susan David, 2017
e. “Emotionally Healthy Spirituality – It’s impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature” by Peter Scazzero, 2017
